If you want to try to 100% it it's also a little longer and harder because there are 800 collectible diamonds hidden all over that take a few hours to find. I'd actually put this up there with Disney's Magical Quest and Mickey Mania as a classic Mickey Mouse platformer, and I think overall due to how polished and dense it is for such simple game play it is actually superior to the genesis game. And of course the actual combat and movement very simplistic, but the original Castle of Illusion was as well. This game is really just an excellent, self contained few little hours of game play, my only complaint being that the levels are weirdly maze like, but most of the stuff you end up completing is just optional stuff that has no bearing on the game play. And the graphics are excellent, I particularly like the library level which feels like something out of a Pixar film, with some amazing details like magnification in the glasses in the foreground and little sugar cube creatures that seem like they belong in their own game. The boss fights get harder as they progress so you might have to retry them a few times. The first two levels you can breeze through but later on it gets more complicated. In this reimagining of the classic Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game, you play as Mickey Mouse With all-new graphics and magical adventures, enter a world of wonder. Plus the hub world castle is like a miniature version of Gruntilda's castle in Banjo Kazooie, and the whole plot about the villain drinking Minnie's youth is highly derivative of it as well. This remake gives off heavy Banjo Kazooie vibes which is the best compliment I can give a 2.5D platformer, particularly the music is very clearly influenced by it. Mickey can throw items, jump and that's about it. The best thing about this game is how it transitions seamlessly from 2D to 3D. Presentation is excellent, Minnie gets kidnapped and Micky has to save her while a weird narrator states the obvious in an attempt to make the game more cinematic. This is a good "remake", I say that term loosely because it's so different from the original that it might as well be a different game altogether.
